Nonwovens and nonwoven composites with flame-retardant and fire-blocking properties were examined. A multipurpose fibre material with all the desired technical and economic qualities is not available for most applications. Optimal fibre blends must be obtained for each application. Bonding using spunlace technology appears ideal for the manufacture of nonwovens made from flame-reistant fibres.
