A nonwoven fabric is produced by forming a first web of staple fibres and fluid-entangling it on a first support having large pores to obtain an intermediate fabric having large fibre bundles that intersect. The intermediate fabric is then fluid-entangled on a support having small pores to form small fibre bundles which are coplanar. IPC D04H.
