Natural fibers used during wet laid nonwoven fabric manufacture include wood pulp, abaca, hemp, cotton, and sisal. Wood pulp features easy web forming and low raw material costs. Abaca and hemp are used for stencil tissue, meat packaging, tea bags, medical tape, and vacuum cleaner bags. Cotton wet laid nonwoven fabric end uses include absorbent medical and personal disposable products. End uses for sisal wet laid nonwoven fabrics include tissue and medical and personal disposable products. Manmade fibers used during wet laid nonwoven fabric manufacture and their end uses include polyester for cover stock, medical disposables, tape, and wraps, rayon for medical and sanitary products, wipes, food filters, and cover stock, nylon for apparel, interlinings, and durable nonwoven products, polyolefin for filters, heat sealing, and heat bonding cover stock, glass for roofing, floor coverings, condensers, and battery tissue, polyvinyl alcohol for binder fibers, and vinyon for heat sealable filter paper. 10 refs.
