Web preparation involves the opening and mixing of the fibres and creating a uniform mass flow length- and crosswise. Web quality depends essentially on these process steps. Opening, mixing and homogenization each take place in individual steps, both serially and in parallel. When the fibres are opened, for instance, they are also intermingled.
