A comparison of nonwoven fabrics and foam products for home furnishing and automotive markets evaluates end product appearance, hand, seating comfort, durability, designability, ultraviolet stability, temperature stability, fire resistance, and relative recycling properties. The comparison emphasizes such end uses as public transportation, automobile seats and headliners, furniture upholstery, and mattresses. Such composites as needled fabrics and foam, nonwoven fabrics and polyurethane-foam, and multiple layers of laminated materials using a spun bonded-fiberfill-foam-spun bonded construction are also discussed.
