Lantor, a leading European nonwoven fabric manufacturer, developed an Internet site in 1996. Since its inception, the number of site visitors increased from 3,000 to 6,000 per six month period. These data, however, include accidental visits. Of all the inquiries, 10 percent were general questions, 83 percent were product or service specific, and 7 percent were unrelated to the industry. The geographic distribution of inquiries, from most to least, were represented by Europe, North America, Australia and Asia combined, and South America. In the future, Lantor plans to focus on highly integrated information technology, customer oriented approaches, and the redefinition of its business scope.
