A series of nonwoven fabrics to be used in diaper cover stock were manufactured with a range of binder types and concentrations. mechanical properties associated with softness were tested using Kawabata KES measurements. A data base was developed from both subjective and objective measurement to both categorize softness and derive an equation for prediction. The validity of this equation was then verified using samples from commercially available products. 1 ref.
