Western European consumption of industrial fabrics increased from 1.67 million tons in 1985 to 2.37 million tons in 1995 and is forecast to reach 3.1 million tons by 2005. North American consumption totaled over 3 million tons in 1995 and will reach 3.9 million tons in 2005. Consumption in the People's Republic of China will increase from 937,000 tons in 1995 to 1.3 million tons in 2005. Japanese consumption will increase from 905,000 in tons in 1995 to 1.66 million tons in 2005. Nonwoven fabrics' share of the industrial fabric market will increase from 19 percent in 1995 to 28 percent in 2005. Composites' share of the market will increase from 11 percent to 14 percent during that period.
