Several exhibitors at ITMA '99 stressed the economy, energy efficiency and high quality advantages associated with calender and through-air thermal-bonding systems. KTM Kleinwefers introduced its new Parotherm Roll, designed to process fibre webs at>250℃ at speeds of 600 m/min. Kusters has developed a high-speed ultrasonic bonding calender while Bruckner Apparatebau showed two types of through-air thermal bonding ranges for processing high-loft, needlepunched nonwoven constructions.
