Needle-felt nonwovens made of natural and thermoplastic fibers are ideally suited as semi-finished products for manufacturing natural fiber reinforced composites. The process parameters during the production of the nonwovens like area-mass, needle-density or penetration depth have strong influence on the properties of both nonwoven and resulting part. The mathematical formulation of relations between manufacturing process and resulting properties makes it possible to optimize the nonwoven semi-finished products according to their determined use.
