The production and construction of a bonded yarn fabric for use as a wet-end papermakers' fabric are claimed. A sheath/core yarn with a core having a higher melting point than the sheath is used and the array of yarns is passed through a roller nip, where excess melted sheath material is forced into lateral grooves in the roller to form structural members between adjacent yarns.
