Important acquisitions and alliances in the nonwoven fabric machinery industry include Rieter's acquisition of ICBT Perfojet, Autefa and Dilo's acquisition of Spinnbau, and Fleissner and Hills Incorporated's joint venture to manufacture microdenier spun laced fabrics using Fleissner's AquaJet spunlacing machine and Hills' bicomponent fibers. Autefa Automation Group manufactures crosslapping machines that increase the surface weight, improve the longitudinal and transverse strength, and increase the width and quality of nonwoven fabrics. Fehrer AG's NL 21/SF-RV needle punching machine manufactures high quality random velour fabrics on a brush conveyor at speeds of up to 3,000 rpm. Lurgi Zimmer and Shell developed PTT fibers for carpet and apparel manufacture.
