Nowoven fabric manufacturers selecting between carding/garnetting, air laying, needle punching, hydroentangling, wet laying, spunbonding, melt blowing, stitch bonding, scrim, and tow processes must consider investment costs, raw materials costs and availability, labor, shipping, inventory, liability, prospects for future developments, markets, customer profiles, competition, and environmental compliance issues. Unlike fabrics made with continuous filaments, fabrics made with staple fibers have single loose fiber ends on teh surface and greater bulk, softness, and surface properties. Staple fibers allow the blending of different fiber types and sizes within the fabric, which can be altered more easily during processing.
