The International Nonwovens Conference and Exposition (IDEA) 2001 attracted more that 330 exhibitors and 7,000 nonwovens industry include allergen barrier fabrics, negatively charged dusting wipes for home use, and disposable HEPA filters for vacuum cleaners. Novel automotive headliners feature face, adhesive, and backing components derived from the same polymer, which facilitates recycling. Eastman Chemical's Easter Bio copolyester resin won the IDEA '01 Fibers and Raw Materials Achievement Award. The compostable resin fully biodegrades in less than 180 days. New products from Lenzing Fibers, Acordis, NewCo, 3M, Cotton Incorporated, National Nonwovens, Hollingsworth, and Precision Custom Coating are discussed.
