The German Plant and Machinery Manfuacturers' Association (VDMA) has a membership of more than 3,000 in 38 sectors, including components for software, robotics, and image processing technology. The VDMA furnishes members with a platform for joint ventures and responds to member information and service needs. An interview with Thomas Waldmann, managing director of the VDMA's Textile Machinery Technical Association, highlights the state of nonwoven fabric machinery production in Germany, research and development, the product range offered by German textile machinery manufacturers, and investment trends. Production of nonwoven fabric manufacturing machinery increased 7 percent in 1999, but declined in 2000. A table describes the auxiliary machines and accessories offered by leading German manufacturers for fabric formation, bonding, finishing, and making-up.
