Eurotherm Gauging Systems Incorporated's SpectraBeam FSIR full spectrum infrared sensor improves the measurement of the web during nonwoven fabric manufacture. The technology derives from systems used in the extrusion and coatings sectors. The sensors obtain information over the entire near infrared spectrum, including regions not recordable by conventional radiometric selective filter based near infrared gages. The SpectraBeam measures in a range of 1.35-3.40 microns. It is capable of simultaneously measuring total basis weight, base pulp, moisture content, resin content, and polymer blend contents during air laid nonwoven fabric manufacture.
