The NTC nonwovens industry conference held in Germany in April 2001 included presentations on the history and future of air laid fabrics in the food packaging industry, the new generation of bonding fibers for calender binding and through air drying, three dimensional nonwoven fabrics manufactured using conventional flat rolls, BioLargo's iodine based bactericides for absorbent products, Sanitized AG silver ion antimicrobial funishing, superabsorbent meat soaker pads, air laid pulp technology from Rayonier and Main SpA, a system with open cross section films for channelling high viscosity body liquids, ultrafine bicomponent melt blown microfibers, hydroentanglement, elastane fabrics made from 0.2 denier per filament fibers, the use of biodegradable polymers in the melt blown process, and the internet.
