Cotton-blend nonwoven fabrics for medical use

A research program was undertaken to determine optimum blends of cotton blend nonwovens. The effect of fibre type and blend proportion on absorbency, air permeability, flexural rigidity and tensile strength in grey state and bleached/scoured fabrics were evaluated. The authors conclude that the majority of fabric properties can be predicted accurately by equations based on area density and bulk density for needle-punched fabrics, and by models of area density and fabric thickness for hydroentangled fabrics.
