Fibers for nonwoven fabrics represent one-third of Lenzing's production. Spun laced fabric production represents more than 60 percent of Lenzing's nonwoven shipments. A 20 million euro investment in equipment will boost Lenzing's production of dull chlorine-free fiber, which is increasingly common in medical and surgical products and hygienic wipes. The nonwoven fabric manufacturing line has stainless steel equipment, two vertical spinning machines with godets, 87 spinning positions, and an 800 millimeter immersion depth. Downstream equipment includes hot water stretchers, cutting machines, conveyor belt, condensation unit that recovers CS(2), spiked belt wet opening machine, dryer, and dry opening machines. A detection system checks for metal particles.
