The S1 sliding probe for the thickness testing of ductile materials such as nonwovens is briefly described The measuring principle is based on magnetic induction and the instrument is incorporated into the production line where it continuously monitors the distance between the fabric surface and a reference. Materials up to 15 mm thick can be measured.
