An investigation into the processability of ramie fiber in nonwoven fabric manufacture and how ramie improves the properties of cotton and cotton blend nonwoven fabrics prepared and tested nonwovens consisting of simple folded cotton or ramie, double folded cotton or ramie, and simple or double folded 50/50 ramie/cotton for compression, bending, tensile and tear strength, cardability, and stability due to structure. The ramie/cotton samples had a compact structure that resulted in higher stability. 3 refs.
