Freudenberg Nonwovens has developed products with "textile characteristics" such as good draping properties. decorative appearance, good process ability and good " wash and wear" capabilities. "Evolon" fabric has been produced by a new process which consists of 100% continuous microfilaments with special characteristics. Various finishes are possible. The problems of miticidal and anti-allergic bed covers are discussed, and five requirements listed for anti-allergenic bed linen. Different aspects of "Evolon" fabric are discussed - particle retention capacity, water vapour passage resistance, washability, textile handle at lowest possible fabric weight and crushable without rustling characteristics. Functional sport and leisure clothing is discussed with notes on the testing process to which the fabric was, subjected-the results are presented in tabular form. UV protection capacity is then discussed and assessed in accordance with AS/NZS standard4399. No skin irritation is noted in the fabric's handle. The fabric's benefits aye briefly summarised.
