The web weights of nonwovens can be determined using a coefficient factor, ‘K’, which multiplies the square root of the fibre fineness in denier. The ‘K’ factor has different values according to the technical composition of the cards and the nature of the web being created. Three processes for producing a product weighing 64g/m2 are briefly described, i. e. direct carding, the Isoweb batt forming process, and the AirWeb air laying process.
