Several solutions have been found to the problem of how to remove the unwanted cutout parts (trim) from a web. If the trim is a continuous piece (ladder trim) it may be wound on a core shaft, drawn off by a vacuum, or chopped up and blown off. When the trim is formed as loose pieces, other solutions are possible but the problem also arises as to how to remove the incompletely cut trim. Several methods are discussed, focusing on their drawbacks as well as their advantages.
