The two and one-half year boom in denim may be ending, although production has remained at a high level. Back to school business lagged this year due to strong sales in previous seasons and overproduction by denim mills. Many producers are counting on medium weight and light weight denim to keep business strong. The lighter weight fabrics are being used in a wide variety of men's and women's casual sportswear.
