Most agree that the ecological trend will continue to be very important, including celestial designs as well as earthbound objects, such as fish, leaves, and shells. Farmland Americana will be another important style. Woven, matelasse, and denim fabrics will be important as well. Phillips says the prewashed look will be important in canvas, crepe, gauze, and denim. Grand sees a transition from a'garden' look to an 'heirloom' look, as well as the continuing strength of the 'primitive' trend and a growing 'south of the border' trend, especially in accessories. Kaplan sees a swing in color toward lighter tones with midtones and vegetable colors becoming more important. Mackay emphasizes gilded tones and two tone patterns, whereas Bromely believes that the most important trend in home furnishings is functionality and livability.
