Camden Passage is a leader in the manufacture of quality men's wear made of Tencel cellulosic fibers. Until recently, Tencel had been used primarily in women's wear. A major selling point of Tencel is its environmental friendliness. It is not made by a chemical process. To make TEncel, wood pulp is dissolved, and the dissolving agent is recycled. There are no harmful effluents. Camden Passage is a manufacturer of moderate to upper-end slacks and sport coats. It has slacks manufacturing plants in Louisiana and jacket manufacturing plants in Kentucky. About 30 percent of Camden's new line will be made of Tencel. Its 60/40 Tencel/cotton slacks are already available at retail outlets. A line of plain weave 65/35 Tencel/wool pants will be introduced in fall 1994. A line of 100 percent Tencel slacks and a solid blazer in herringbone weave will also be available in fall 1994. A 50/50 Tencel/linen jacket will be introduced in spring 1994.
