The properties of apparel fabrics which make them suitable for protective garments are discussed. In particular, the authors examine garments which may protect the survivors of air crashes and which afford protection against extremes of hea and cold. Firefighters' garments and fabrics for use under water (deep-sea divers) are also considered.
