Fabric Mills Encourage Pipeline Quick Response (QR) Partnerships.

The number of QR relationships between apparel manufacturers and fabric mills will continue to increase. The tehnology to establish QR partnerships is available and affordable. Many small apparel manufacturers however, are hesistant about establishing QR programs with fabric mills because of the lack of necessary personnel. AMTEX a partmership between he United States Dpartment of Energy and the textile and apparel industries, has developed Demand Activated Manufacturing Architecture (DAMA), a fully integrated textile pipeline from fiber products to retail that solves many QR problems. DAMA technology would be of great benefit to small apparel firms that lack the adequate financial, human, or technical resources necessary to implement QR.
