Tailoring the Right Approach to Interlinings.

The selection and application of interlinings depends mostly of the type of tailoring used. Tailoring traditional garments involves the use of relatively heavy interlinings (>200 grams per meter) of wool fabrics with high resilience and shape retention. Assembly techniques in tailoring traditional garments remain a labor intensive art. Tailoring semitraditional tailoring with such advances as fusible interlinings, which significantly simplify operations. Engineered or industrial garments are generally `soft' garments, requiring very few tailoring skills. The use of silky, drapable, and ultrasoft interlinings and bielastic linings permit the manufacture of these garments.
