As prt of a search for better methods to attach care labels during the fabrication of collar bands, engineers at the Clemson Apparel Research Facility improved the design of the Clupicker, an auxiliary device that separates and pick up individual plies of fabric during sewing. Typically, collar bands for dress shirts and blouses consist of a relatively stiff interlining that is sandwiched between two pieces of fabric. Preliminary field tests with a Jet Sew 3002 revealed that the band ends of the Clupicker must be maintained in perfect alignment for attachment to proceed smoothly.
