Dress Shirt Firms Move into Mostly Cotton.

Dress shirt manufacturers will emphasize mostly cotton blend fabric for the fall 1994 season because the lower cost of shirts made with these fabrics appeals to a borader range of consumers. Dress shirt manufacturers are increasing their lines of wrinkle resistant, costly cotton blended fabric shirts and decreasing the emphasis on all cotton wrinkle resistant shirts that characterized the Father's Day deliveries. Phillips-Van Heusen's line of wrinkle resistant shirts will be available only in mostly cotton fabric and will be marketed as the Van Heusen Wrinkle Free Shirt. Executives at Bidermann Industries, which markets wrinkle resistant dress shirts under the Arrow label, say that eventually most cotton shirt manufacturers will be using wrinkle resistant technology.
