The new government of Hungary has sold Danube Kniwear, a state owned company under the communist regime, to a provate management group of United States and Hungarian textile and apparel executives. The company has a textile plant that produces 500 metric tons of knit fabric per month, and an apparel manufacturing plant that employs 840 sewing operators and can produce 40,000 T-Shirt and swearshrits per week. The firm plans to sell its products to manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and screenprinters in Europe and tha United States. The management group comprises former executives of The Gap, Esprit, Jockey, Hanes, and other Weastern apparel companies. Danube Knitwear will begin upgrading to auotmate its spreading machines, slitters, pattern making procedures, cutting room equipment, knitting machines, dyeing machies, compactors, and dryers. Union Special will supply the company with 325 sewing machines and a number of class 39500 owver dege sewing machines.
