Indonesia Apparel Manufacturer Now Largest in Southeast Asia.

Since it was established in 1976, Great River Industries of Jakarta, Indonesia, has increased its payroll from 150 employees to over 10,000, and has increased sales 700 fold. Total annual production has reached 18 million units, making the company the largest apparel manufacturer in Southeast Asia. The company manufacturers 23 different brand lines, including lines for DKNY, Jockey, Triumph, Arrow, Munsingwear, and Asics. The company exports to 20 markets, including the United States, Europe, and Japan. It has 200 company owned shops and more than 6,000 other outlets throughout Indonesia, and plans to increases its company owned retail outlets by 10 to 20 percent annually for the next few years. Company executives forecast annual sales increases of 25 to 30 percent for each of the next three years. Its goal for production in 1994 is 24 million units.
