Knit Makers Are Banking On Texture, Updated Looks.

To maintain strong momentum generated from last season knitwear manufacturers will be offering apparel in updated silhouettes and a vareity of colors, as well as lahering relaxed and deconstructed separates, crop sweaters, head-to-toe knitwear dressing, and chenille combinations in rayon, cototn, and acrylic. Fall 1994 will not be the season to be traditional. To lure customers, manufacturers and retailers will have to emphasize novelty apparel. Texture will be a very improtant characteristic. Eighty percent of Adrienne Vittadini's collection will consist of knitwear. Mohair, heather wool, velvet, and boucle wool are the predominant yarns used in the collection. Silhouetters will be short and clean. Most experts believe that this season will be the biggest ever for chenille.
