Environmental and safety regulations will influence the future of textile auxiliaries. These regulations will create more stringent controls for the transport and management of chemicals. Legislation is currently in place to control packaging, vehicle loading, and the labeling of goods for transport. International agreements are being negotiated to control the shipment of hazardous chemicals across national boundaries. Packaging requirements designed to protect workers from hazardous chemicals are becoming commonplace. The textile ndustry must also be concerned with environmental laws regulating the discharge of process chemicals in effluent. More onsite effluent treatment is likely and the industry will be forced to adopt more efficient and less wasteful processes. The use of heavy metals and solvents is linkly to decrease.
