Pilling is a major problem in garment dyeing. Enzylon CM-30 enzyme effectively removes pills from cellulose garments. Enzylon ASN-30 is similarly effective for wool. The cellulose enzyme product is a mixture of three enzymes: exocellulase, endocellulase, and beta-D-glucosidase. Temperature and pH control its action, which prevents fabric damage or problems in the effluent. Optimum weight reduction is between 4 and 5 percent. Optimum processing conditions depend on the type and fastness of the dye. The mixture can be combined with synthetic rubber balls to achieve a wash-down finish. The wool enzyme product is an alkali protease. Applications before dyeing yield a soft hand and dimensional stability. Applications after dyeing have an antipilling eftect.
