An overview of CAD/CAM systems used in apparel manufacturing focuses on new technological developments. In hardware, a major trend is the use of monitors with higher resolution. Such software as Microsoft Windows, UNIX, and Novell are improtant in systems integration. Companies are incrasingly integrating all phases of operations and building large databases through tis integration. These large databases are critical to effective product development. In CAD systems, user freindliness is very improtnat, particulrly as companies market throughout the world. Very low cost CAD systems are now availale, boradening the market significaltly. Linking customers and vendors via computer is becoming more common.
