A brief overview of technical and fashion aspects of the market for denim materials is given. Preparation for indigo rope dyeing using a ball warping machine, the dyeing process itself, preparation for weaving, and finishing of the denim fabric are described. Finishing can include brushing, singenig, impregnating, stretching, drying and shrinking. Desizing and overdyeing may also be included. Fashion trends dictate a stonewash or enzyme process to give a used look.
