A wound dressing is made from an animal-fibre fabric in which the keratin layers of the animal-fibre surfaces are stripped off by means of a chemical treatment to expose the non-keratin protein in the underlayers, whereby the surfaces of the animal fibres are modified to be hydrophilic. IPC A61F.
