A label certifying that textile products are free from harmful substances is being offered to manufacturers in the UK, from BTTG the sole certifying body for the Oko-Tex Standard 100. The label reads Confidence in textiles - passed for harmful substances according to Oko-Tex Standard 100. To qualify for the label, the product must reach predetermined standards in several tests: pH value; formaldehyde content; extractable heavy metals; pesticide content; azo dyestuffs; colour fastness; emission of volatile and odorous compounds; and a sensory odour test.
