Japanese apparel production drops drastically in 1993

According to a Textile Industry Rationalization Agency survey report on 1993 Japanese apparel production, apparel production sharply decreased by 6.1％ in volume and 9.5％ in value from the previous year. Stagnant consumer spending and growing imports are stated as reasons for the quantitative production decrease, and the decrease in production value was considerably greater than the decrease in volume because of the inclination toward lower prices, it is reported.
