Saurer recently introduced the Pentacut embroidery thread cutting device for its model 3040 embroidery machine. The Penticut permits embroidery threads to be electively cut at up to 1,416 positions. Two independent pneumatic drive systems extend the clamping device and cutting knife to the cutting position. The rest position is at a distance from the fabric surface and between adjacent needles. A thread separation device prevents crossing or hanging of adjacent threads and facilitates the threading process. The absence of hanging threads eliminates the need for a subsequent shearing process.
