Once found only in ultra luxury sheets and tablecloths, linen is being used in a growing number of bedroom and bathroom products. According to Masters of Linen, a trade organization, the use of linen in bedding products has increased nearly 25 percent since 1993. Linen is a featured component of the furnishings collections of such mainstream mills, designers, and suppliers as American Pacific, Calvin Klein by Home Innovations, Fieldcrest Cannon, and Wamsutta. Observers attribute the newfound popularity of linen in bedding products to greater consumer awareness, extensive promotion, a general upgrade of the bedding market, and a smaller price gap between linen and fine cotton. Most suppliers offer products made from linen/cmotton blends because they allow the manufacturer to create an all natural design without using dyes or chemicals.
