Cotton gin dryers impact both raw cotton market value and spinning value. Improper drying systems can have a positive influence on raw cotton market value while negatively impacting the spinning value. This paper describes Lummus Corporation's drying system designed to optimize both raw cotton market value and spinning value. Thermodynamic and psychrometric principles are discussed to support Lummus drying system designs.
