Preliminary investigations have been carried out to test the suitability of supercritical fluids for the dry cleaning of textile fabrics. The solvent properties of these fluid systems for various types of soil have to be established under conditions where the textile goods are not damaged in any way. Investigations currently under way in the fields of desizing and dyeing of synthetic materials using these media may yield further useful information for supercritical technology.
