Medical clothing: a tutorial paper on pressure garments

The use of pressure therapy as an effective means of preventing and controlling scarring after burn injury is discussed. Pressure garments are tailor-made to the individual's measurements to provide uniform and firm support to the body contours, and they are designed individually for the area of injury. The use of fabrics and production methods employed in the manufacturing of the garments are reviewed. A brief account of the problems encountered by patients and meidcal staff is provided.
