Removal of heavy aged stains requires the use of bleach solution. Alkali stains can usually be removed with a solution of any our or by rewashing. Carbon paper, ink, lipstick, and makeup stains require a paint/oil/grease remover. Washing often removes the chlorophyll found in grass stains, especially if an oxidizing agent is used. Ozone can stop the growth of microbial organisms. The only effective method for removing mildew discoloration or staining is to wetclean or launder the apparel in a solution containing oxidizing bleach. Oil stains should be drycleaned and residual stains should be treated on the spotting board. Further removal of oxidized oil stains can be attempted by using an alcoholic potassium hydroxide solution. Drycleaning should remove any oil staine on Visa fabrics.
