Lightweight Wool Garment Wrinkle Performance: A Wear Experiment.

A controlled wear experiment investigating the wrinkle performance of light weight woolen fabrics entailed subjects wearing light weight wool and wool blend trousers for 2 hours in ambient environments of 20 degrees centigrade, 40 percent relative humidity or 25 degrees centigrade, 75 percent relative humidity. Black and white photographs recorded wrinkle performance at specific recovery times. Ten observers assessed wrinkling using a scale defined in relation to two reference photographs. Although different fabrics exhibited diffeent wrinkle performances at the end of the wear sessions, wearers contributed a large proportion of the variation seen in the overall assessments of the fabrics. Researchers attributed the largest source of variation, however, to the different ambient wear conditions. 15 refs.
