During the 1990s apparel retail in Canada has undergone some change caused chiefly by large US retailers moving into the Canadian market and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Profiles are presented of the present situation in apparel manufacturing in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario, indicating the size and nature of each of the first three local industries and focusing on fashion design in Ontario.
